Last weekend, the ITP team participated in REACH-A-Child’s 4th Annual Kickin’ It for Kids Kickball Tournament! It was the perfect day to be outside and enjoy some friendly competition. This is the 3rd year our team has participated in the charity event. After five games, some sunburn, and a lot of fun… we took home 2nd place!
The event draws 10 teams from all over Madison, who compete head to head in kickball games. The competition is fierce but friendly. The event also draws participants’ kids and families for a fun afternoon spent playing kickball against local first responders and touring emergency vehicles, including the Medflight helicopter! We invite you to put the event on your radar for next summer!
REACH-A-Child is a non-profit serving the Madison area. Their program provides First Responders with drawstring bags and books to comfort children in crisis. The books help direct the children’s attention away from the anxiety and fear of the situation. The gift and interaction allow the emergency responders to have a positive experience and impact the children’s memory of the event.
The set-up cost for the program for a first responder is $150. Each bag will serve 20 children-in-crisis. Donations from events like the Kickin’ it for Kids events and more allows REACH-A-Child to distribute these bags to firefighters, EMS, Sheriffs and State Patrollers. We are so proud to be kickball participants and sponsors of this great non-profit!
